Do you know when I may hear something on the application?

The application window will be open for about a week, and then we need time to confirm information, review applications, and collect follow up documentation (per Federal requirements). We are trying to make this process as fast, smooth and easy for businesses owners as possible.

What is the maximum grant award amount?

The maximum Tigard CARES round 2 grant award amounts are:

    • Up to $3,000 - no storefront or employees
    • Up to$5,000 - storefront or 1-4 employees
    • Up to $7,500 - storefront or 5+ employees

What types of businesses is the City of Tigard prioritizing for Tigard CARES funding?

All applications will be reviewed and scored based on the following priorities.

    • Firms impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown
    • Entrepreneurs in need of funding to restart their business
    • Traditionally under-served and under-banked entrepreneurs
    • Small businesses with business revenue as their primary source of family income
    • Firms in neighborhoods with limited access
    • Because Federal funds are being used, businesses must be eligible based on Federal rules

What can Tigard CARES grant funding be used for?

Tigard CARES funds are for firms to use to cover business expenses like rent, payroll, or overhead. Each firm is working with either MESO for business counseling. They will all receive follow up after their grant award.

Where does this funding come from?

The City of Tigard has gathered funding from Federal, State of Oregon and Washington County. The majority of the funding is based on funds from the Federal CARES act.

$1.6M in Tigard CARES round 2 funding comes from Washington County's allocation of Federal CARES funding.

How do I find out what my business license number is?

Please contact Liz Lutz (lizbeth@tigard-or.gov) to obtain your business license number.

If I accept funding through Tigard CARES, will it disqualify me from some federal funds?

There is no indication from the federal government that receiving local assistance like our Tigard CARES grants would preclude a business from receiving federal aid.

How many applications will I have to fill out and how much documentation will I have to provide?

It depends upon the source of the funding. Each funding partner has different requirements. City of Tigard and MESO staff are available to work with you throughout the application process.

If I've already received a grant or loan from the City of Tigard can I receive a new grant?

Yes, you are still eligible for funding, please apply. Current funding levels are higher and if you application scored is high enough we will bring your total grant award up to the new funding level.

Will the City provide information about the businesses that receive Tigard CARES funding?

We will provide a summary report and work in progress update. We will also publish stories in the Cityscape newsletter and social media about firms who have accepted business assistance. Stories about previous Tigard CARES grant recipients can be found on this webpage.

The information you provide in the application and that you certify to be accurate will potentially be reviewed by Washington County and the Federal government.

Are non-profits eligible to apply for funding?

Yes, non-profits are eligible to apply.
