Bonita Rd to Tualatin River Alignment Study

Project Update 5/25/2021

What we’re doing

  • Identifying a potential alignment for the future trail segment between SW Bonita Road and the Tualatin River.

What we heard

In our online survey in November and December 2020:

  • Participants generally agreed with being in the greenway but had some concerns for environmental impacts.
  • There was a strong preference for going under Durham Road.
  • Participants understood why portions of the trail are proposed along the road and some had concerns about how the trail could be designed to mitigate the impacts on user experience.

What’s next

  • Finalize the report and adopt into other plans like the Trails System Plan and Transportation System Plan.
  • Pursue funding.

Bonita Road to the Tualatin River is known as the “missing link,” as it is the final gap in the Fanno Creek Trail in Tigard. This project will determine the vicinity of the route in this area and provide a conceptual design and future grant materials for final design and construction. The project will consider items like street and railroad crossings, amenities such as seating and overlooks, and access points to view the creek.
