    Fanno Creek Park

    Meet Erik

While growing up as a kid I would only go indoors for eating and sleeping during the summer months. I loved being outside playing with neighbors and friends. Often, I would spend many of my weekend days at my older sibling’s baseball games. While my brothers were playing their games, I was usually running all around the park with a group of kids.

Through the years, I have maintained my love for the outdoors and specifically my love for parks. I will often seek out new parks to explore, or sports parks to walk around and watch youth... Continue reading

    Universal Plaza

    Meet Ruth

I have been a resident of Tigard for 35 years. I just loved the Park Passport program so much; it really opened my eyes to Tigard. One of my favorite parts was all the neighborhood parks. The City has done such a great job with incorporating parks in these new housing developments. My favorite neighborhood park was Sabrina Park where there was a city park and a neighborhood pool where kids could come and play. I think that is so important.

I use Cook park every day to walk for an hour and a half. It is such... Continue reading

    Woodard Park

    Meet Melissa

Being surrounded by nature quiets my chaotic mind and being able to shift my focus to the sounds of my footfalls, breath, and the occasional animal helps me decompress. Working for Tigard Parks & Rec in the Recreation Department introduced me to what I consider a hidden gem, Woodard Park. Being there puts me around nature without feeling too isolated and also allows me to set my own pace while walking a small part of the Fanno Creek Trail. The bonus is that, if I feel up to it, I can keep walking along the Fanno Creek Trail... Continue reading

    Orchard Park

    Meet Atlas

Atlas, a young member of the Tigard community, attended every Pop-up in the Park event in July of 2021. He has visited 6 different Parks in the City of Tigard for the Pop-up events. He says “My favorite thing to do at the park is to go on the play structure”, as he is climbing up the structure. “Look! I’m a Ninja!”

While enjoying water activities at Orchard Park on a hot 90-degree summer day, Atlas ran around the grass yelling “look how fast I’m running!” and would then proceed to cool off in the sprinkler and by... Continue reading

    Cook Park

    Meet Marissa

Stories about my dad always make people laugh at parties. He’s a jokester and lives for a good laugh. Growing up, he was always there when we got home from school. He worked from 2 a.m. to noon in the lab at Pepsi.

One of his more elaborate pranks: He once hid in the bathroom dressed in bear suit as I got home from first grade. He borrowed the Mug Root Beer mascot costume and waited for me to search the whole house before jumping out to surprise me. I never understood why someone would do that!

    Meet the Williams Belanger Family

We're here to teach her how to ride a bike without training wheels, but right now she seems pretty content without pedals.

Bike riding is something we enjoy as a family. We usually take her in a cargo bike on the Fanno Creek Trail, but here she can ride on her own.

At this park we like the trees, shade, and open space that is available. We also like that it is quiet. It is like a quiet alternative to Summerlake Park. It is nice that you can walk between two playgrounds. You can see... Continue reading

    East Butte Heritage ParK

    Meet Dave

I own my own business, Hops on Tap in Tigard, which keeps me quite busy, but I have Wednesday’s off and spend that day with my grandsons. We love getting out of the house and enjoying parks in Tigard, especially this past month.

It has been wonderful to participate in these Pop-Up events. It has provided some added fun to our park trips and encouraged us to explore new parks in the area. East Butte Heritage Park is a wonderful area, and I don’t think my grandsons have stopped running around the play structure since we got here... Continue reading

    Bull Mountain Park

    Meet Talur

“Tigard is great for parks. I come to Bull Mountain Park everyday with my dogs Chase and Chewie, sometimes twice a day. I have a Corgi Toy Fox Terrier and a Chiwawa. I will usually come to Bull Mountain Park Monday through Friday and I like to get out to some of the bigger parks on the weekend, like Dirksen Nature Park, that is probably one of my favorite parks.”
