Learn More about River Terrace 2.0 Planning Project

What is River Terrace 2.0?

The River Terrace 2.0 Concept Planning Project will consider over 500 acres of undeveloped land to the west and south of the current River Terrace.

River Terrace 2.0 will be a neighborhood for everyone — a complete community with diverse housing options that serve people at all stages of life, and families and individuals at all income levels.

What does the concept plan consider?

  1. Housing
  2. Transportation
  3. Natural Resources and Access to Nature
  4. Jobs and Economy
  5. Place Making
  6. Paths to Implementation

Project Lenses: Equity and Sustainability

Two major project lenses guide our planning.

Equity

It takes great neighbors to make a great neighborhood. The city is committed to making this new neighborhood accessible to everyone. We’ll develop housing types and sizes to meet the needs, preferences, and finances of Tigard’s present and future residents.

Sustainability

In just the past few months, we’ve seen how climate change can impact communities. We’ll plan for resilience in the face of extreme weather and natural forces. We’ll also consider how to make River Terrace 2.0 a model for sustainable development in Oregon — through reducing greenhouse gases, building walkable communities, and encouraging innovative housing, transportation, and new commercial options.

How does this project connect to the wider region?

We’ll plan a cohesive neighborhood that is livable, walkable, and equitable on its own. But the plan will also consider how the neighborhood connects with the rest of the region as it grows and changes. That includes adjacent areas in King City and Beaverton, as well as connections to regional amenities, transit service, and trails. We want to make sure River Terrace 2.0 will meet the community’s housing, commerce, transportation, infrastructure, parks, trails, and natural area needs as the region grows.
