Cook Park Playground Design Competition
Cook Park is the oldest, and most well-known park in the City of Tigard. The park has a rich history and a variety of amenities including a large playground structure that has aged beyond its useful life. The Parks & Recreation Division is hosted a design competition between playground companies to see who can design the best playground for the space.
“The goal is to provide an experience that is memorable for a lifetime,” says Project Manager Carla Staedter. “The new playground should reflect the significance of Cook Park and be a welcoming destination for people of all ages and abilities.”
Project Update - November 16, 2023
Construction started on June 26, 2023 for the new inclusive playground. The construction is scheduled to be completed in winter of 2023/ 2024. There are two contractors working on this project. The first contractor has completed their work on preparing the site. As of November 16, the installing contractor has began mobilizing and working on-site.

Cook Park Inclusive Play
Hear from Martin McKnight, Parks Supervisor about the need for a new playground in Cook Park. He'd like to see something memorable for kids like the rocket ship slide from the 1970s and 80s. He also has an eye towards making Tigard parks more accessible and inclusive.
