The Pavement Management Program (PMP) safeguards the city's investment in street infrastructure. This program generally involves both minor maintenance projects, such as slurry seal applications, and major maintenance and rehabilitation projects, such as pavement overlays. In a pavement overlay project, the pavement has deteriorated due to traffic usage and weather conditions to the extent that repairs and overlays are essential to prevent further damage and restore the street to good condition.
The road system is one of our biggest investments. To keep our roads in the best condition possible, we use two types of pavement treatments:
Pavement rehabs on busy streets and on roads with severe cracks and potholes to restore the road to good pavement condition; and
Slurry seals on streets that have lower traffic volumes and are in relatively good condition.
Road maintenance is paid for by Tigard residents and business owners through the street maintenance fee. This fee appears on your monthly City of Tigard utility bill.
