The City of Tigard will design and construct a new 3-million-gallon water reservoir. This will ensure enough healthy, safe water to:

  • Keep pace with the city’s growth
  • Meet peak demand periods
  • Navigate emergencies and natural disasters

The final location of the reservoir (Reservoir 18) is not yet determined. There are two sites being considered for construction: Sunrise Park and Cach Nature Park. These sites are both owned by the city and are at elevations suitable for constructing the new reservoir.

To meet the city’s Strategic Plan goal to set the standard for excellence in public service and customer experience, the following project goals have been identified:

  • Provide resilience and add flexibility to the water supply system.
  • Manage for a transparent and smooth construction process with respect to impact on neighbors, permitting, safety, and cost.
  • Provide good communication to build relationships within the community.
  • Accelerate the schedule to mitigate neighborhood impacts and address existing system deficiencies.

What’s Next

  • The city will hire a design-build team to construct a 3-million-gallon water reservoir.
  • Technical analysis will determine the ultimate location of the reservoir, either at Cach Nature Park or Sunrise Park.
  • Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2022.
  • Community outreach and engagement throughout the project.
